Road infrastructure has remained one of the most visible components of the Ododo administration’s development programme, with interventions spanning major urban corridors, township roads and rural routes.
On 27 January 2025, Vice President Kashim Shettima commissioned two major road projects in Lokoja as part of activities marking Governor Ododo’s first year in office:
Zone 8–Barracks–Shettima–Zango Dual Carriage Road
Zone 8–Crusher Dual Carriage Road
The commissioning represented a significant milestone in the administration’s infrastructure programme and further strengthened connectivity within the state capital.
Rural and Township Road Interventions
Beyond Lokoja, road construction and rehabilitation have extended to several Local Government Areas, including:
3.1km Oziokutu–Ogaminana–Obangede Road, Adavi LGA
3.5km Abdulrahman Badams–Adavi Secretariat Road, Adavi LGA
8.6km Ogaminana–Obangede–Okaito Road, Kogi Central
12.5km Unosi–Odonto–Ogigiri Rural Road, Ajaokuta LGA
7.2km Idah Township Roads, Kogi East
10km Bagana–Abejukolo Road, Omala LGA
Township road projects across several other LGAs
The 12.5km Unosi–Odonto–Ogigiri road was formally flagged off at Adogo, Ajaokuta LGA, on 12 August 2025. The project is designed to improve access to farms, markets and rural communities.
The 7.2km Idah Township Road project was flagged off on 3 June 2025 and covers internal roads within the town.
The administration also reported in September 2025 that it had approved, mobilised and completed more than 10km of township roads in each of the state’s 21 Local Government Areas. Individual project completion dates, however, vary by location.
KOGROMA: Strengthening Road Maintenance
The administration has strengthened the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) to support township road interventions and improve routine road maintenance across the state.
